By polluting the ocean, you are endangering humanity.
~Invisible plastic has been found in tap water, beer, salt and is present in all samples collected in the world’s oceans, including the Arctic.
~These plastics can cause developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune disorders in both humans and wildlife.

Every year, 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean, making up 80% of all marine debris from surface waters to deep-sea sediments.
Why do we care?
Every year, 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean, making up 80% of all marine debris from surface waters to deep-sea sediments. This plastic then ends up being mistaken for prey, and vulnerable oblivious marine life like seabirds, whales, fishes, and turtles consume this garbage on a daily basis!
These animals' stomachs begin to fill up with plastic trash, causing them to either get sick and die, or starve to death. Imagine the agonizing feeling of feeling so stuffed that you could throw up, but your stomach remains dark and empty.
And soon your body has nothing to run on anymore. No nutrients, no energy, and full of pain.
So death arrives at your door, knocking impatiently just like he did with all the sea creatures we killed...

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
The largest collection of plastic in the world, named "The Great Pacific Garbage Patch" is 1.6mil square miles larger than texas
Garbage
There are around 593,037,400 pounds of plastic in the oceans. That's about 98839.5667 elephants, and possibly much more.
Predictions
It's not that hard to just pull up to the beach and spot multiple sea creatures and fish, living their lives and contributing to their ecosystem. Now imagine only 30 years later, in 2050, those fish are replaced by plastic. A very popular prediction suggests that by then, there will be more trash than fish in the very oceans that once provided us with food, water, salt, and fun days at the beach.
What to do?
Nobody expects you to quit plastic altogether. But a good and honest start would be to try and use paper straws, bags, etc. whenever you can. Remind yourself that giving up a little bit of convenience is all worth it. After all, you could be saving a poor turtle's life.
